Journal With Witch is About Pickles

As a sort of "non-stereotypical" Asian, who excelled in English and Literature rather than Math, Journal with Witch has blown me away. Not only is it a tender reflection on what it means to grieve, it has actively incorporated grammar lessons into its very narrative structure. In addition to the tenses that this video explores, grammar is interwoven into its story in other subtle ways. Each episode title is a verb, an action, something the characters are doing. The last time I've seen a story play with time and memory in the way that it does, was the master Satoshi Kon himself! Ikoku Nikki also tells valuable lessons, which is something I really value in the media I consume. About what being an adult actually entails. You don't have to have everything figured out. But often, life has given you more tools than you know.
