Lafayette Square to Dupont Circle, DC | Walk on a Beautiful Summer Day | 4K | USA

In this 1.3 mile or about 2 km walk, I started from Lafayette Square Park next to the White House and from there I walked up 16th Street NW on BLM Plaza and turned on Massachusetts Ave NW towards Dupont Circle. ~ Neighborhood Information ~ 1. Lafayette Square is a seven-acre (30,000 m2) public park located within President's Park, Washington, D.C., United States, directly north of the White House on H Street, bounded by Jackson Place on the west, Madison Place on the east and Pennsylvania Avenue on the south. It is named for Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette, a French aristocrat and hero of the American Revolutionary War (1775–1783) and includes several statues of revolutionary heroes from Europe, including Lafayette, and at its center a famous statue of early 19th century U.S. President and general Andrew Jackson on horseback with both of the horse's front hooves raised. Much of the neighborhood is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. However, the local government Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC 2B) and the Dupont Circle Historic District have slightly different boundaries. The traffic circle is located at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue NW, Connecticut Avenue NW, New Hampshire Avenue NW, P Street NW, and 19th Street NW. The circle is named for Rear Admiral Samuel Francis Du Pont. The traffic circle contains the Dupont Circle Fountain in its center. The neighborhood is known for its high concentration of embassies and think tanks.
