While it may appear at first that the cards emerged as a game in the 13th century, their archetypes, numerology, and other symbolic connections draw many paralells with ancient Egyptian and Hebrew mysticism. With that said, regardless of it's origins; the history of Tarot a colorful and intricate story and language which we may come to see in our day to day lives, and over generations in society. In this, one finds that Tarot is a versatile system of ancient and esoteric knowledge. Today, the Rider-Waite-Smith and Thoth Tarot have become two foundational decks upon which most are based.
