They Craved The N-Word in a Watermelon?!!!

A few years ago, I volunteered with a Black farmer and learned firsthand about the challenges Black farmers can face. More recently, that same farmer discovered a watermelon with the N-word carved into its rind. The hateful act was a deliberate attempt to intimidate and demean, using a racial slur with a long history of targeting Black people. Hearing about this incident was a sobering reminder that racism continues to affect Black farmers and our communities.
