Space to Breathe: Valuing green space at NHS sites for staff wellbeing | Event Recording

Research by the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare shows that green space at hospital sites has an important role to play in supporting staff wellbeing. Staff stress has long been a critical issue in the NHS where in 2019 more than four in 10 staff reported feeling unwell as a result of work-related stress in the last 12 months. These problems are likely to be greatly exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic. Our research, supported by the Health Foundation, looked at experience at three NHS sites that have taken steps to encourage staff to relax and re-charge outdoors. At this event we put forward practical recommendations from the research and explore the potential for culture change around the use of NHS green space. The webinar will be of interest to people working to improve green space at NHS and other employment sites, workforce leads wanting to give greater priority to staff wellbeing and outdoor organisations, landscape designers and architects interested in the benefits of green space for mental health.
