Alberta O. Jones Statue Unveiled In Louisville
Louisville honored a trailblazer Friday with the unveiling of a new statue dedicated to Alberta O. Jones, a fearless civil rights leader and the first black woman to pass the Kentucky bar. The statue now stands outside Louisville’s Hall of Justice, recognizing Jones’ lasting impact on the city, the legal profession, and the fight for equality. Jones's life was tragically cut short in 1965 when she was kidnapped and murdered. Her case remains unsolved. Decades later, her legacy continues to inspire generations across Louisville and beyond. This ceremony brought together community leaders, family members, and residents to celebrate a woman whose contributions helped shape Kentucky history. #louisville #AlbertaOJones #CivilRights #KentuckyHistory #BlackHistory
