Dead Cow Trail Santa Monica Mountains - Ride Along One of My Favorites

Located in the North Ranch / Oak Park area of the Santa Monica Mountains, Dead Cow is one of the best trails in Los Angeles. Even though it's a short trail, it packs a serious punch and if you're looking to add more miles to the ride, there are a number of variations and off-shoots you can take. On today's ride along I was short on time so we opted for the out and back option, which is a great way to get a solid workout on the climb and get some serious fun and chunk on the downhill. Opting for a China Flats loop or heading over into nearby Chesebro Canyon trails give more miles on the XC/Trail spectrum while the old faithful Suicide downhill trail can be found right off the top of Dead Cow and is a great challenge for those looking for a downhill mountain bike ride.
