MONSTER Conger Nearly Dragged Me Into the Sea…

I nearly lost this MONSTER conger eel at Shepherd’s Chine on the Isle of Wight… 😳 What started as a hunt for an undulate ray turned into an absolute battle in the surf… but I somehow managed to land this beast. After a slow start with just a few dogfish saving the blank, everything changed on my final cast. At first, I thought it was just another dogfish bite… until I struck into something completely different. The rod slammed over and instantly I knew — this was a serious eel. What followed was absolute chaos. Fighting the fish in rough conditions, dealing with tangled lines, and trying to control it in the surf wasn’t easy… but I somehow managed to land a proper sized eel onto the beach. But it didn’t end there… As I tried to pull it clear of the water, the eel threw the hook and made a run straight back for the sea!
