GA-MATLALA Boratapelo Setumong Saaiplaas, Taung Mamone Ga-Ramalapa The people of Ga-Matlala experienced forced removals from their ancestral land under the apartheid government, the last of which occurred in 1980 which saw homesteads and livestock burnt to ashes. Those dubbed 'Makhonkhorose' - tthat is, Congress People - this because of their political meetings that were meant to topple the apartheid government. Most of them were arrested, and those that are still alive attend those meetings in hope for compensation for all they have lost.
