OMAGONGO CULTURAL FESTIVAL – 23 May 2026

The Omagongo Cultural Festival is an annual cultural celebration, held under the auspices of the Uukwambi Traditional Authority in the Omusati Region. Today's event, taking place at the traditional homestead of Chief Herman Iipumbu in Onamenga, marks the climax of the marula‑wine season that starts in early February. The Omagongo Festival centers around omagongo, a traditional fermented beverage made from marula fruit, which UNESCO inscribed in 2015 as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah will deliver a statement during the Omagongo Cultural Festival.
