A Tai Chi Sword Guide - Finding the right sword for you.

A little guide in finding your first Tai Chi Sword for you. You can just use a stick to start practicing, even as a alternative you may use shorter stick to practice in smaller areas. Nerf/Foam swords also great to starter sword, training indoor or light sparring. It's light weight makes them easy use and keeps weight off your wrist. Nerf swords are great with flat tips and can last for long time with out heavy play. But you will have to shop around for a nerf sword though... prices changes when not in print. Wooden swords adds a nice earth element and can be use for conditioning or training with 2 partner sets. But keep in mind if the sword made with light cheap are easy to break and hardwood may run heavy too heavier depending on wood material. Wooden Tai Chi swords or Wooden Dao (single edge) you may want make sure add extra wood glue around guard so it won't just fly apart between the blade and hilt. Dokken/Wooden Katana are nice one piece swords great for conditioning and 2 partner training. But keep in mind they run more on the heavier side depending on the wood type. Long umbrella easy fast tool to find around your the house and practice with.. Wushu swords are very light, easy going for your wrist and make cool sounds as it snaps. Two Handed swords ~ may run a little more on the heavier side but after shifting your awareness in using the momentum you can change its weight to flow lighter for yourself. Han Jian swords are very nice but run on the heavier side. Extendable swords are great for travel swords and fits in your backpack or purse. But you have to get the sturdy version... no cheap version. Cosplay swords may be heavy, sharp or be made too cheap and just fall apart. Make sure to research before before getting one.
