Federal Deputy and Morena spokesperson Arturo Ávila confirmed that he will not seek to participate in the process to select his party's candidate for governor of Aguascalientes and that his political focus will be on running for mayor of the Cuauhtémoc borough in Mexico City in the 2027 elections. During an interview, Ávila explained that after analyzing where he could contribute most to the movement, he decided to concentrate his efforts on regaining the borough currently governed by Alessandra Rojo de la Vega. He noted that the formal timeline for that process extends until September, so in the meantime, he will continue serving as spokesperson for the Morena parliamentary group. The legislator asserted that Morena has a strong chance of winning in Cuauhtémoc and cited polls that, he said, give him an advantage over the current mayor.
