Webinar Engagement with the 2025/2026 ATP Candidates

CLE HOLDS A WEBINAR AHEAD OF THE APRIL 2026 ATP EXAMINATION This afternoon, CLE held a virtual engagement session for candidates preparing to sit for the April 2026 ATP Examination. The session was attended by CLE CEO, Prof. Jack Mwimali, Dr. Felix Odhiambo, Director, Examination and officers from the Directorate of Examination. Speaking during the session, Dr. Odhiambo emphasized CLE’s role is to examine candidates within its statutory mandate and to ensure that all those who sit for the examination are assessed through a process that meets the required standards in setting, administration, marking and quality assurance. The Secretary/CEO of CLE, Prof. Jack Mwimali, wished all candidates success in the upcoming examinations and reaffirmed CLE’s intention is to facilitate a credible examination process and assure the public that those who qualify for admission into the legal profession have met the required standards. He encouraged candidates to give their best and strictly adhere to the examination rules and regulations. The session also featured Mr. Eddie Kaddebe, who has served CLE as a setter, examiner, moderator, and remarker, and who shared valuable insights on the nature of ATP examination, structure of examination, expectations of candidates from CLE and candidates, tips to pass the exam and demystifying myths surrounding ATP exams. He highlighted that the examination is a professional assessment designed to test candidates’ ability to identify legal issues, solve practical problems and demonstrate readiness for legal practice. He also noted that candidates are expected to approach the examination with confidence, having undergone legal training and exposure to legal practice. During the engagement, candidates were advised to: i. Ensure their answers are clear, well-structured, and legible ii. Use simple, concise, and professional language iii. Read all instructions carefully before attempting the questions iv. Remain calm, focused, and composed throughout the examination The webinar also addressed common misconceptions surrounding the ATP Examination, including the myth that CLE deliberately fails candidates or that some papers are intentionally harder than others. Candidates were reminded that the examination is intended solely to assess their preparedness for legal practice. The session also featured an interactive Q & A candidates had an opportunity to engage directly, seek clarification, and receive responses to key concerns relating to the ATP Examination. CLE remains committed to stakeholder engagements through timely information, guidance and a fair examination process.
