ALZHEIMER A 43 ANNI, LA FORZA DELL'AMORE: PAOLO E MICHELA 🌟

In this episode of Fragments, we'll discover the story of Michela, Paolo's wife, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's at age 43, and reflect on the power of love beyond illness. You can listen to Michela's full interview here: https://bit.ly/michela-e-paolo #alzheimer #invaliditaediritti #caregiver Paolo exhibited symptoms such as forgetfulness, changes in character, and verbal aggression, making it difficult for his family to understand what was happening. Michela, after researching dementia and Alzheimer's, faced the challenge of explaining their father's illness to their sons Mattia and Andrea. Mattia demonstrated great courage in caring for his father, so much so that he was awarded the "Alfiere della Repubblica" (Standard Bearer of the Republic) award by President Sergio Mattarella. Unfortunately, the situation worsened during the COVID-19 pandemic, when isolation deprived Paolo of the extracurricular activities that helped him stay connected to reality. Michela, for her part, had to navigate Italy's bureaucratic difficulties, obtaining 100% work disability for Paolo but not support, despite Paolo's Alzheimer's. We invite you to watch the video and listen to Michela's story, in which she describes the difficulties and emotions she and her family faced.
