Is the £30k Peugeot 308 GTI a True Hot Hatch? | REVIEW

The 308 GTI is Peugeot's entry to the hot hatch battle, it's quick with 270PS and wrapped up in a fairly discrete package albeit with added sporty red touches, upgraded brakes and new wheels. How does the entry from Peugeot Sport compete though in an already very busy market for small and fun hatchbacks? Based on the 5 door 308, the GTI comes with a manual gearbox, the 1.6l turbo engine with 270 horsepower, and boasts some decent performance figures. With power heading to the front wheels there is no question that torque steer becomes a thing but with playful handling and usable power, on the countryside roads it makes for an enjoyable drive. However, with the extra sound in Sport mode coming through the speakers, funny positioning of the dials on the dashboard, and a few other quirks, it's a confusing car that takes some further thought.
