The thread has to be durable, the same for the top as for the bobbin. It's the same thread used to sew awning fabric to withstand the cold and heat. No matter how high your mattress or foam is, mine is 7 cm high, and I sew it along the line I made with the ruler to make the corner height. On the side where the Velcro goes, we sew a small piece to make the corners the same as the others, the same measurement. We put the Velcro on top of the 2 cm we left extra for the width. One side will go on top of the other to put the Velcro and close it. We sew a part of the Velcro a little inside the fabric, not on the edge so the Velcro isn't visible.
