Morricone's architecture of silence. My rework of Ennio Morricone’s “Playing Love”, the immortal theme from “The Legend of 1900”, is a piano and cello rework conceived as a delicate dialogue between two instruments, exploring the beauty of pauses, the breath between notes, one of the greatest lessons in Morricone’s music (in his compositions, silence is architecture). While recording this track, I imagined the piano and cello being the lovers depicted in the film. They intertwine through breath, tension and stillness, allowing hush to gradually find a voice among the labyrinth of their sighs.
