It has a population of 4400 inhabitants and is easily accessible since it is 97 kilometers from the center of Athens via #Chalkida, while it is served by regular #ferry routes from Skala #Oropos. It was one of the most important city-states of the Greek world and its rivalry with neighboring Chalkida was known. In more recent years, after the destruction of Psara in June 1824, a town was founded on the site of the ancient city, initially with the name Nea Psara, but later it continued to be called by the name Eretria. Visitors immediately notice the calm and relaxing #atmosphere that Eretria exudes. Wide streets, beautiful beaches and warm Greek colors. An alternative four-season destination that will excite you, offering a multitude of options such as marine #tourism, #hiking, mountaineering, #gastronomy, archaeological visits, religious tourism, #agrotourism, etc. Immediately after Heroes' Square and the City Hall, the continuation of Ancient #Theater Avenue leads us to the beautiful coastal pedestrian street filled with cafes, bars, taverns and restaurants, palm trees and statues, on the blue of the sea. The view is magnificent. The best setting for your quality getaway. A little further down is the beach for refreshing dips and the rare coastline includes the #Island of #Dreams and the picturesque port of Eretria. In close proximity is the Eastern beach of Eretria with its well-kept beach bars. Just a few kilometers from Eretria, #Malakonta Beach offers a variety of hotels, a calm environment and a shore with soft sand and shallow waters. It is a great place for families and those looking for a quiet day by the sea. The archaeological #museum of Eretria houses a collection of artifacts from the rich past of the area. The ancient Theater of Eretria was once an important cultural and entertainment center for the ancient city-state, offering the visitor a stunning view of the surrounding landscape. In the village of #Mytikas, next to Nea #Lampsakos, are the twin #Venetian #towers and the chapel of Agia Paraskevi on a hill. The sight is breathtaking and transports you to other times! Just 30 minutes by car from Eretria, Chalkida is the bustling #capital of Evia, known for the famous “Crazy Waters” phenomenon, where the tidal currents of the Evripos Strait mysteriously change direction every few hours. The city stretches between its mainland and island parts, which are connected by 2 #bridges. It offers bustling pedestrian streets, excellent seafood restaurants, hills with unique views and impressive sights. Based in Eretria, you can take day trips to landscapes of unsurpassed beauty on Mount #Dirfis, its traditional villages and hiking trails, and the exotic coasts of Evia on the #Aegean Sea, such as #Chiliadou or #Kalamos at Agioi Apostoli. Eretria is a destination that beautifully combines ancient history, stunning beaches and exciting excursions. A short trip from Athens, it has to offer unforgettable emotions and relaxing moments to every #traveler!
