FOLLOW ME ON SOCIALS Facebook:   / framepersecondstefanocerutti   Instagram:   / frame.per.second   FULL CROSSING OF VAL GRANDE: FROM CASLETTO BRIDGE TO COLLORO HIKE TIMES ● 1° DAY: Ponte Casletto - Ponte Velina (1.15h) - Orfalecchio (3.45h) - Arca (6.15h) ● 2° DAY: Arca - In la Piana (6.00h) ● 3° DAY: In la Piana - Colma di Premosello (3.45h) - La Piana, Colloro (5.00h) Indicated times including short breaks NOTE: the first two stages of the route are not recommended by the Val Grande National Park TRACKS INFO ● Casletto Bridge - Velina Bridge: difficult path, well signaled and protected with chains ● Velina Bridge - Orfalecchio: difficult path, signaled quite well and protected with chains, the most dangerous parts are the crossings on wooden bridges suspended due to the resistance of the wood over the years (when we went we were still in good condition) ● Orfalecchio - Arca: difficult path, signaled sometimes, on top of the Colletto di Valpiana keep the left to find the men on the ground ● Arca - In la Piana: at the beginning there is to ford the river (to do only with low water river), very difficult path both physically and psychologically as it is almost always exposed or semi-exposed, until after the Arca's ford signaled quite well, then only men from time to time, difficult to see with thick vegetation. We lost track 3 or 4 times, but being in five then we managed to find it again. The bridge before the Val Negra is broken, but you can overcome the passage by holding firmly to the chain anchored to the rock, pay maximum attention. ● In la Piana - La Piana di Colloro: classic path to exit the Val Grande, well signaled and very popular (with reference to the Val Grande's standards). There are no objective difficulties apart from fatigue :) OTHER INFO ● The "path" from Casletto Bridge to In la Piana is ABSOLUTELY TO AVOID in case of rain or in the days following the rain, both because the Rio Val Grande could be very big and because many sections are slippery on rock! ● The cave of the Arca where we slept is a bit humid but welcoming, it's a pity just a bit 'dirty with human waste (paper, celofan, towels, etc...). ● If you opt for this route I highly recommend stopping to sleep at the Arca and NOT in Orfalecchio, this because the path Arca-In la Piana is already very tiring to do without having to add the Orfalecchio-Arca tract that also does not joke! ● The bivouacs of In la Piana are as beautiful as ever. ● Recommended to bring 20/25 rope, to use in case of high water during the fords or in very exposed stretches. ● Always pay attention to the vipers, even if we have not seen them. ● Bring tweezers to remove any ticks in the evening.
