Aloe vera cultivation in Colombia is carried out primarily by small producers, women's groups, and independent producers. They have dedicated themselves to cultivating aloe vera as an economic option but are facing difficulties in marketing it. Therefore, it is especially important to analyze and design policies for this subsector to prepare it for entry into the growing national and international market. The National Government, through the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, is interested in consolidating the Aloe Vera Productive Chain in Colombia. This chain will bring together all the stakeholders involved in its implementation, in order to enhance its competitive development in the country and link benefits for all its stakeholders. Therefore, it is pertinent and necessary to have the support and commitment of each of the stakeholders in the construction of this process. Aloe vera cultivation in Colombia dates back at least 10 years. It is important to mention that the development of aloe vera cultivation, its industrialization, processing, and marketing has not been uniform across the country. This means that there is more than one cultivation model, as well as more than one model for the industrialization, processing, and marketing of aloe vera. This is justified by the fact that the aloe vera plant, especially Barbadensis Miller, can be grown in a wide variety of thermal zones, 11 recording acceptable yields in any of them. This, combined with Colombia's vast biodiversity, translates into at least three ways to cultivate aloe vera. These methods multiply if the crops are also targeted to supply a specific industry. In the above order of ideas, if aloe vera leaf byproducts are indeed used in the cosmetics, food, and pharmaceutical industries, to name the three most representative, there could be more than nine valid models for cultivating aloe vera leaves, not to mention the type of agriculture applicable.
