The Gang Get on the Grindset [Degrees of Lewdity]

After causing a scene at a funeral, Chomusuke and the gang get scammed into owing $10,000 to a shady salesman. The gang then proceeds to try to raise money the only way they know how. -- Director's Commentary? -- As silly and raunchy of a video topic as this is, we see it as genuine vent art and poured our entire being into it. Around March of this year we got entirely too fed up with the surge of puritanical culture online, seeing Youtubers need to start censoring out words as simple as "horny" and constant discourse over "taboo topics" on twitter. It started as an idea to make another "how to blank" kinda video with delirious editing about a purposefully inappropriate topic, which happened to land on Degrees of Lewdity due to relevance in our friend group. So, film Chomusuke, talk off the cuff about some silly things in the game in a disarmingly casual way, put some trippy visuals over it. But the problem came in the form of DoL demanding much more attention. It's simply too interesting of a game, and as we were working on it, we realized it kind of works as a bizarre commentary on the insane fascism that people are facing currently that led to this puritan culture in the first place. This video was utterly exhausting to work on, and we completely shut ourself out from experiencing anything new for the six months it took, even things we've been waiting literal years for like PSG season 2. Luckily (in a backwards, idiot way) the world only continued to get worse for those six months, driving us harder and harder to finish this as a sort of protest. Both protest against all these puritanical laws being passed and protest against Youtube's current ecosystem. We had debated cutting the funeral cold open and starting right at the laptop shot for "retention" or whatever, but quickly decided we won't bend our vision to fit into the stock youtuber mold, if you're gonna watch our vids you're gonna sit down and WATCH! Anyway, we're very proud of what we have made here (haven't even mentioned all the effort that went into drawing), and really look forward to making more planned out videos like this one! At the very least we won't need to draw like 60 talk sprites next time.
