We visited Ikoma-Shinchi (Hozanji-Shinchi), a town steeped in Showa-era retro, and enjoyed some delicious egg-topped rice! Ikoma-Shinchi** is one of the areas known as "Cuisine Associations (Shinchi)" in Ikoma City, Nara Prefecture. "Shinchi" refers to entertainment districts that derive from the traditional ryokan districts, former red-light districts, and entertainment districts found primarily in Osaka and the Kansai region. Ikoma-Shinchi is similarly lined with ryokan-style buildings and has a unique atmosphere, with neon lights shining at night. 🏮 Features This atmospheric area retains its traditional buildings and streetscape, lit up by red lanterns and neon lights at night. Formed as a "Cuisine Association," it has long been used as a place for entertaining and enjoying dining and drinking at ryokan restaurants.
