FloridaGreen Pasco Solar Drying Biosolids Treatment Facility
Located in, and in partnership with, Pasco County, Florida, this new biosolids treatment facility uses approximately 3 acres of covered, odor controlling greenhouse space to dry dewatered cake biosolids. Only robust air movement and sunlight powered evaporation are used to remove a majority of the residual water, left after the dewatering process commonly used at wastewater plants throughout thE world. Following greenhouse drying, a 70 degree Celsius, 30 minute pasteurization treatment occurs, driving the final percent solids to 75% or greater. Once through this process, the wastewater residuals are recycled and reused for the nitrogen and phosphorus values they contain.
