Hello, I'm Na Yoon-seok from La Factor. I'm embarrassed to even say hello now. I've been coming here so sporadically, and I wonder if I can really call myself a YouTuber... ㅜㅜ Others have already uploaded videos, but I'm finally uploading my test drive of the new Ioniq 6. I'll be able to return to being a columnist and YouTuber once I get back from one more business trip this week, right? To summarize my impressions of the Ioniq 6 facelift, I'd say it's "straightforward," "calm," "dead-sounding," and "high-end." While it's natural for a facelift to improve overall quality, most often, the focus is on correcting what went wrong. However, the Ioniq 6 is impressive in that it has strengthened what it already does well, and focused on areas where just a little bit of refinement could elevate the overall level. That's the improvement in ride quality, especially on long-distance, high-speed rides. I've previously uploaded a video of myself taking the Ioniq 6 on a business trip out of town. I did this while pondering where sedans, especially electric sedans, could find their place in this era of crossover SUVs. I concluded that electric sedans are the optimal long-distance electric vehicles. The low center of gravity and seating position are beneficial for a comfortable ride and high-speed stability. And low air resistance directly contributes to excellent high-speed fuel efficiency. That's why the Ioniq 6 boasts the longest range in Korea, at 562 km for 18-inch long-range wheels. The Kia EV4 already boasts a long-distance fuel economy of over 500 km. If you want to travel long distances comfortably in an electric vehicle, then you need a sedan. In this regard, the tuning direction of the Ioniq 6 facelift is spot-on. To further improve the already excellent ride quality, the dampers and stabilizer were adjusted to a more relaxed setting. The stiffness of the cowl crossbar, the inner frame of the dashboard, was increased to improve vibration and noise characteristics in the front of the cabin. The stiffness of the roof crossbar, located behind the roof, was also increased to reduce the resonance noise occasionally heard from the rear of the cabin. Furthermore, the rigidity of the alloy wheel discs was increased to completely reduce vibration transmitted from the wheels. The weatherstripping structure was also improved to reduce wind noise entering through the door gaps. Furthermore, the longer front and rear overhangs resulting from the design change also benefited the design's ability to smoothly slice through the air. So, the goal was to create a car that was overall calm and quiet. And that was exactly what I felt during my test drive. When the wheels first started rolling, the rolling texture felt not silky. You could sense the tire pattern noise. But it didn't rise upwards. It was pressed down, almost like it was "just sitting there." It doesn't vibrate the floor, tickle the steering, or create a buzzing sound inside. It felt like a very dead-sounding listening room, like a speaker enclosure. At low speeds, you can feel the texture, but it feels well-pressed. But when you encounter big bumps, the ride quality really starts to feel good. The car is incredibly composed when going over speed bumps, especially on rough pavement surfaces. It feels solid and steady, with a premium feel. And on the highway, it's an excellent high-speed cruiser. There's no noticeable increase in noise, and unless the road surface is extremely bad, road noise isn't a concern. The car's handling is stable and predictable, making it easy to drive. An interesting fact: The Ioniq 6N lowered its roll center by redesigning the wheel carriers. But the Ioniq 6 facelift reportedly has the same chassis as its predecessor. So, the texture was improved through fine tuning alone. This time, there's a new feature called Smooth Mode. You can select Smooth Mode in My Drive Mode. This makes the power output less sensitive to the accelerator pedal movement while cruising. I highly recommend this as the default mode for taxis. If I were to frequently take long-distance business trips in the future, I'd probably choose the Ioniq 6 Long Range 18-inch wheels. Oh, one thing that was disappointing. The accelerator pedal response is rough in Sport mode. It's so irritating that it loses front wheel traction when exiting corners. Other than that, there's nothing special about it.
