For the past fifty years, the landscape of the Rance estuary has been changing dramatically. It has been experiencing progressive and continuous silting, despite efforts to remove the silt. In the absence of conclusive results, the Regional Council has decided to halt all funding for dredging the estuary, an operation hampered by the presence of the hydroelectric dam.
