Warning - "Watching From a Distance" ("Chiptune" Cover)

Track 1 of WFAD, but remade with 8-bit/chiptune sounds. Random notes below if you're curious. Enjoy! Credits: Original song and album by Warning (UK doom metal band): https://warningdoom.bandcamp.com/albu... I covered this song using Beepbox (https://beepbox.co) and stitched parts together in Audacity. I also made the pixel art image for this video, based on Warning's WFAD album cover. ---- Notes: The Tempo: Here, it's different from the original song -- this might be the 1st thing you notice. When I heard the original, the tempo wasn't very consistent (ie anywhere from 50-something BPM to 60-something) so I picked an "average" that roughly matched the time of the original. For example, the intro here lasts about 2min 16sec, the same as Warning's intro. The Thumbnail: My video software kinda made the album pixel art look worse. This is what it's supposed to be:   / this_album_looks_different   The Drums: I'm personally not 100% happy with how the drums came out, but feel free to let me know what you think either way. The Drums (continued): The drums around the 9-minute mark are supposed to have cymbal rolls/shimmering, but to be honest I have no idea how to do that in chiptune :) I decided to improvise, but the end product kinda sounds like white noise or waves on the beach. I dunno. The "chiptune" part of the title -- I'm new to chiptune, but I imagine there's no way one of those old retro game consoles could technically handle all the instruments present here at once. So it's not a "realistic" 8-bit cover. That said, I tried to match the atmosphere of the original song, just with different instruments. Audacity: I amplified the first 0.162 sec a tiny bit in Audacity, and added extra silence at the end (to match the official track from Warning, lol ;) ). Other than that, I made no modifications to the audio in Audacity. The Dollars: I make no $$$ from this, and don't care to. Warning is/was an awesome band. If there is interest, I can post the Beepbox projects here. That way you can see the notes for yourself, play around with the instruments, add effects, etc. However, weird quirk -- Beepbox exports drums with different "timbre" so you may hear different drum sounds each time. I had to keep retrying the export because it kept making 8-bit burps and farts. The End: That's it. Enjoy!
