É ideal do Petebista (Hino do PTB) - Anthem of Brazilian Labourist Party (1945 - 1964)
With the end of the New State dictatorship, it led to the creation of new national state parties to replace the state level parties that dominated the brazilian old republic. Well, this process led to the creation of the Brazilian Labour Party, PTB, in 1945, founded by supporters of President Getúlio Vargas. The new party absorbed the support of urban workers who had benefited from Vargas' social legislation. In its first convention, in September 1945, the PTB approved a bold program that would defend the expansion of labor rights in cities, the extension of these conquests to rural workers, land reform and the right to "peaceful" strike. In 1965, through the AI-2, the PTB was extinguished by the Military Regime, as well as all the political parties that existed until then. Almost all petebistas who had not been forfeited or runaway the country then migrated to the newly created MDB. Bipartisanship lasted until 1979, when then president João Figueiredo restored pluripartisanship in the process of political opening. Then there was a fierce dispute over the name, for the acronym "PTB", between the group of Brizola and the group led by Former Deputy Ivete Vargas, the great niece of Getúlio Vargas. The TSE having won the case for Ivete's group in 1980, which then founded the current Brazilian Labor Party, the Brizola group then founded the Democratic Labor Party (PDT). While the PDT maintains a center-left Labor bias, the current PTB is unfortunately considered a center-right party (although there is a Getulist faction within the party). It would be excellent one day to see the PTB return to its Getulist roots. In the image are Getúlio Vargas, João Goulart, and Leonel Brizola. ▪ Lyrics: Foi Getúlio quem deu ao Partido Seu programa de luta e labor Preparando um reduto aguerrido Em defesa do trabalhador. Desde então pôde a pátria altaneira Enfrentar o poder reacionário Que espolia a nação brasileira E o trabalho do nosso operário. É ideal do petebista Emancipar a nossa gente Com um governo Nacionalista E um Brasil independente. E a nação a sentir novo alento Resolveu decidida a buscar Por si mesma o desenvolvimento Sem de estranhos jamais precisar! O partido mantém sempre acesa Sua chama de esforço viril Que há de um dia extinguir a pobreza E dar paz e progresso ao Brasil. É ideal do petebista Emancipar a nossa gente Com um governo Nacionalista E um Brasil independente.
