Castleisland 800: Episode 1 Welcome address
This year, in Castleisland County Kerry, we celebrated the 800th anniversary of the construction of Castleisland Castle (1226) and the foundation of our town. This video was recorded as part of a history conference, which was held on the 2nd May 2026. Episode 1: Welcome Address In the first episode of the Castleisland 800 series, Robert McGuire the founder of The Castle of the Island Society, introduces the history conference. Robert researched, presented and produced ‘The Castle of the Island’ documentary, which will be released on YouTube, later this year. Robert welcomed Jimmy Deenihan to be the guest of honour at the conference. Jimmy has a deep passion for the Kingdom.
