The Gold Label Collection Grand Pacific with Andy Powers & Jim Kirlin | Taylor Guitars
Earlier in 2025, we launched the Gold Label Collection, a new family of guitars that introduce a new kind of sound to the Taylor lineup: a warmer, deeper, more open voice inspired by the sounds that first drew audiences to acoustic guitars decades ago. That new sonic personality is the result of three elements: new body designs, our new long-tenon Action Control Neck and a fanned variant of our V-Class bracing architecture. Today, we’re thrilled to share the next stage of the Gold Label Collection: the Gold Label 517e and Gold Label 717e, a pair of slope-shoulder dreadnought acoustics based on the framework of our Grand Pacific body shape. Featuring a body that’s ⅜-inch deeper than the standard Grand Pacific frame, these models deliver exceptional warmth and power without losing clarity and articulation in the low end. Available in natural, sunburst and blacktop finishes, the mahogany/torrefied spruce Gold Label 517e and the rosewood/torrefied spruce Gold Label 717e offer players all the old-school warmth and sweetness they crave in a package that boasts the unmatched playability for which Taylor is known. Here, editorial director Jim Kirlin sits down with chief guitar designer Andy Powers to explore the inspiration behind the Gold Label Collection and dive into the philosophy that led to bringing the Grand Pacific into the Gold Label fold. Andy explains how a larger “lung capacity” from the increased body depth generates more power and greater low-end presence, along with remarkable projection that fills any space with rich, unforgettable acoustic tone. You’ll find the new Grand Pacific guitars from the Gold Label Collection at authorized Taylor dealers this summer.
