God's Mercy in History | Joshua 24:1-13 | Bible Study Lesson

This week's lesson, "God's Mercy in History" (Joshua 24:1-13), reveals how Joshua gathered the tribes of Israel at Shechem to renew their covenant with God and remind them of the Lord's faithfulness throughout their history. Instead of boasting about his own victories, Joshua pointed the people back to God's mercy and mighty acts. He recalled God's covenant with Abraham, the leadership of Moses, the fall of Jericho, the judgment of Achan, the defeat of the kings of Canaan, and the miraculous victory when God sent great hailstones that destroyed more enemies than the swords of Israel (Joshua 10:11). After witnessing countless battles and the deaths of many in his generation, Joshua understood an important truth: our victories come from God alone.
