At that time, a single paper was posted in the great hall of Edo Castle, stating: "If the secrets of the Martial Arts Scroll become public, the Aoi crest will wither overnight…" Immediately, rumors spread that the Yagyū Martial Arts Scroll, known as the Bugeichō, concealed a conspiracy that threatened the very survival of the shogunate.
