Today we're taking you to the rooftop of Tyrol: the spectacular Café 3440, the highest café in all of Austria! Located at an impressive 3,440 meters above sea level in the heart of the Pitztal Glacier (Pitztaler Gletscher), this place offers one of the most surreal panoramic views in Europe, right in front of the imposing Wildspitze mountain (the second highest in the country). We went up as a family to enjoy this experience, walk on the famous floating glass walkway over the abyss and, of course, sample the sweets from the highest confectionery in the mountains. To plan your trip without errors, the official operating hours on the mountain are: Café 3440: Open daily from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm (last orders near closing). Wildspitzbahn cable car (which takes you to the café): Operates from 9:00 am to 3:45 pm. Gletscherexpress (the base funicular train): Operates from 8:40 am to 4:20 pm. Golden tip: The weather on the mountain changes very quickly! Always check the official Pitztaler Gletscher website before going up to ensure that the cable cars have not closed due to strong winds. 💡 FOOLPROOF TIPS FOR YOUR VISIT How to get there: Access is from Mittelberg station, in the Pitztal valley. First, you take the Gletscherexpress underground funicular to 2,840 meters and then the modern Wildspitzbahn cable car to the summit. The total journey takes about 20 minutes. Clothing: Even in the European summer, the temperature up there can be near or below freezing, with very cold winds. Wear layered clothing, a windbreaker, a hat, and sunglasses (the reflection of the snow hurts your eyes). What to order: Don't leave without trying the iconic Apfelstrudel with vanilla cream or the homemade cakes produced daily in the alpine bakery itself. 🕊️ THE MESSAGE OF THIS UNIQUE DESTINATION Being at the top of Café 3440 goes far beyond a simple tourist trip.
