Why Can’t Nintendo Escape Star Fox 64?

Star Fox 64 is one of Nintendo's most beloved games ever made. But the series' greatest success has always also been its biggest problem... For almost 30 years, Nintendo has struggled to recapture what made Star Fox 64 so special. Every sequel has tried something different and failed to capture an audience for itself. In all this time, no other Star Fox game has managed to recreate the feeling of playing Star Fox 64 for the very first time. With the release of the new Star Fox remake on Nintendo Switch 2, I wanted to look beyond whether it's a "good remake" and ask a much bigger question: why has Nintendo spent decades chasing the legacy of a single game? Has Nintendo finally done Star Fox 64 justice, or is it time for the series to move on and create something entirely new? Let me know in the comments!
