No modern weapons. He had only a bamboo spear — and the courage to use it. His name was Pa Togan Nengminja Sangma. And history almost forgot him. When British forces under Captain Dally set up camp at Chisobibra on the banks of the Simsang River in December 1872, Togan gathered his warriors and launched a night attack to defend their land and freedom. Though outnumbered and outgunned, he charged forward alone — fearless until his last breath. Today his statue stands at Chisobibra — exactly where he fell — forever watching over the land he died for.
