Stellar Blade (2024) Part 40

This is a playthrough (part) of Korean studio - Shift Up's fast paced action-adventure title: "Stellar Blade". The story follows "Eve" a member of the 7th Airborne Squad in their latest attempt to save Earth. Eve becomes the sole survivor when all of her squad mates are killed by an Alpha Naytiba (an elite monster). After being rescued Eve forges an alliance with human survivors and together they seek to save the earth and it's last human city from the Naytiba scourge. Stellar Blade was developed by "Shift Up" and is lead by Kim Hyung-tae (a former NCSoft art director/illustrator). Formerly "PROJECT EVE" the game was developed using the "Unreal Engine 4" for release on the Playstation 5 and was published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game uses 3D scanning with Eve herself based on the Korean model "Shin Jae-eun" and the "Naytiba" monsters produced by Hee-Cheol Jang who developed clay models that were scanned and produced for the game. The reception of "Stellar Blade" was mostly positive with many appreciating the robust level design and sophisticated combat loop. The discourse was mostly over how the protagonist "Eve's" character design looked - a buxom woman with plenty of titillating attire. The under-developed story/narrative of "Stellar Blade" as well as "Eve's" backstory did not help dispel the broader issues with the character.
