Лекция Ивана Преображенского — Образ «Другого» в правопопулистском дискурсе Центральной Европы
The opposition of "us" and "them," the division of societies into two opposing camps, is characteristic not only of Russia but also of most countries in Central and Eastern Europe. To understand the nature of this phenomenon, it is interesting to look specifically at the situation in Central European countries, where the rise to power of right-wing populist leaders and movements has led to the formation of a discourse of the "other," new in content but archaic in form. At its core is a binary, extremely simplified system of perceiving reality, built on the real and virtual fears of the non-globalized segment of the population in the region. In their discursive constructs, right-wing populist leaders exploit a universal characteristic of human thought, such as Mircea Eliade's binary division of nature and society, which manifests itself in such characteristics as polarity, antagonism, and complementarity. In other words, in addition to the opposition of two sets, one of which is the potential voters of right-wing populists, the formation of a second community occurs based on the principle of complementarity, that is, the union of two mutually exclusive concepts. For example, such as "world government" and "illegal migrants." Ivan Preobrazhensky is a political science PhD candidate, political scientist, and columnist for Deutsche Welle.
