In this video, I examine why President Cyril Ramaphosa and the ANC appear increasingly concerned about the planned national action, the government’s failure to address illegal immigration, unemployment and crime, and why the usual promises of economic recovery no longer seem to convince ordinary South Africans. With youth unemployment at crisis levels, economic growth remaining weak and public trust collapsing, the government now finds itself appealing to businesses for help while refusing to accept responsibility for the policies that created the crisis. Julius Malema, the EFF and the MK Party are also attempting to position themselves around the growing anger, each for very different political reasons. Could 30 June become another symbolic protest that quickly disappears, or is it a warning that the South African government is beginning to lose control? This video explores the immigration debate, the ANC’s economic failures, restrictive labour laws, BEE, crime, unemployment and the growing frustration among South Africans who no longer believe government promises.
