Josh Okeefe - "Building Up and Tearing England Down" (Live from a Building Site, England) I can't help but think of all the lives lost too soon. Recently, to immerse myself into the construction world, I ventured to a building site in England to film a poignant ballad “Building Up and Tearing England Down”. This evocative song paints the picture of Irish laborers who toiled and in some cases tragically perished to build modern England, only to face exploitation and injustice in return. It's a story that still resonates today, as we see the unfair struggles of workers worldwide. I am struck by the power of music to carry us beyond our own experience, to connect us to a wider world of human striving and suffering. And yet, surely it is not enough to merely listen. On a lighter note, I must confess that I had to don a hint of makeshift hi-vis gear for this one. I suppose it's one of the safety requirements they've wisely implemented.
