The Best OLED Monitor - ASUS True Black Glossy XG32UCWMG Review Today I review the ASUS XG32UCWMG True Black Glossy OLED (32-inch WOLED, MLA microlens array) 4K 240Hz gaming monitor with a 480Hz mode at 1080p, priced at $1,099 with a 3-year warranty, featuring two HDMI 2.1 ports and DisplayPort 1.4. Using Portrait Displays CalMAN Ultimate, I found SDR sRGB accuracy needs work out of the box (mode selection, white point), and even after tuning there’s too much red near black, some EOTF under-tracking, and raised shadow detail; HDR400 True Black shows similar trends with near-black red, EOTF under-tracking, occasional crushed shadows and blown highlights. My measurements: peak D65 brightness hits 753 nits (10% window) and 272 nits (100%), BT.2020 coverage is 71.45%, sRGB ColorChecker avg ΔE 1.7, HDR ΔE 2.88. Versus QD-OLED (e.g., ASUS PG32UCDM), QD-OLED wins on color accuracy and near-black cleanliness in a dark room, but this glossy WOLED destroys it in ambient light handling: black floor 0.05 vs 0.18 cd/m² gives dramatically higher perceived contrast with windows or lights on. Real-content HDR (Baldur’s Gate 3) is strong for a monitor but still far dimmer than an LG G5 OLED TV (that set can exceed 2,200 nits), so temper HDR1000 expectations. Input latency at 480Hz is the fastest I’ve measured, and motion clarity is elite: you can run 4K120 with BFI for 240Hz-equivalent motion or 1080p240 with BFI for 480Hz-equivalent motion (brightness halves). The new glossy coating is almost grain-free and massively sharper than the matte variant; RGWB subpixel text clarity is good for an OLED, viewing angles are solid with some off-axis green tint, firmware/OSD are excellent, and the motion sensor helps mitigate burn-in. Bottom line: despite accuracy quirks, occasional HDR highlight clipping, and DP 1.4, the ASUS XG32UCWMG True Black Glossy OLED is arguably the best 32-inch OLED gaming monitor for most people—especially in rooms with any ambient light—and I’d rate it 9/10 with availability expected in September.
