Raga Darbari Kanada played on Doordarshan on the 9th April's night. Samanwaya Sarkar one of the foremost sitar players (kharaj pancham baaj) of the younger generation. Flawless and distinct playing with subtlety and proper understanding of aesthetic beauty are rare combinations which has made Samawnaya different from most of the sitarists. The tonal quality of his sitar sounds unique. .... Samanwaya with Pt. Manilal Nag of Bishnupur guarana and then with Pt.Shyamal Chatterjee of Senia Maihar. Previously he learnt with Pt. Sashanka Banerjee of Senia. He then learnt with Pt. Kumar Prasad Mukherjee of Agra Atrauli . He got a different essence of aesthetic approach with Padmavibhushan Girija Devi ji as her Gandabandh disciple and learnt Tappa, Thumri, Dadra and all other gayaki elements too ...
