Remembering Lifestyle - including Final Closedown
The early part of 1993 saw a number of channels which had been at the forefront of the cable and satellite revolution sadly going to the wall. Amongst them was Lifestyle, a channel for women operated by WH Smith, and fronted in the main by His Diddiness, David Hamilton. Here we have a collection of links, menus and trailers from the week before closedown, as well as the final moments of the channel before the butterfly meets its terrible fate. Like Screensport (which was also owned by WH Smith, and closed just over a month after Lifestyle) the channel also chose to bow out with a roll of honour for all the people who had worked on the service. Next day, Lifestyle's transponder on the Astra satellite transferred to the German language news channel Vox, which still exists today, although without quite so much news on it.
