DB Führerstandmitfahrt Bliestalbahn: Reinheim Saar - Blieskastel - Homburg, German Railways cab ride

On May 28, 1991, three days before passenger traffic was discontinued on the Blies valley line, I had the opportunity to join a cab ride in a “Silberling” control car (colloquial name for the n-coaches of German Railways) and film the route. The film begins with the arrival of "my train", which is driven by Deutsche Bundesbahn diesel locomotive 212-342, at Reinheim terminus of the railway line, which formerly continued to Sarreguemines in France. Enjoy the historic recording of a journey on the railway lines numbers 3285 (Bierbach - Reinheim) and partly 3283 or the timetable line 686 (from 1972, before that 280c) in the Blies valley in south eastern Saarland state, starting at the French border in Reinheim (Saar) via Gersheim, Bliesdalheim, Breitfurt, Blickweiler to Blieskastel. A little north of Blieskastel-City appears on the left the Würzbach line from Rohrbach (Saar) to Zweibrücken, which is crossed at Bierbach station. In Schwarzenacker you can see that the connection line to Zweibrücken is already closed for operational reasons. The recording ends somewhat abruptly before the Homburg home signal, as the battery was empty at that point. Finally, I would like to put a smile on the lips of local politicians and the mayors of rural areas, because they are always very happy about new roads and bypasses and they are delighted every time a railway line is closed and dismantled, so that they can inaugurate a bike path or parking lot. Today, indeed, a bikeway runs along the route, which is part of the Glan-Blies bike path, provided that it is not built over by a car park, roundabout or federal road, as in Blieskastel.
