La crecida del río Tajo derrumba parte del puente romano de Talavera de la Reina

The rising waters of the Tagus River have caused two sections of the Old Bridge in Talavera de la Reina to collapse early this morning, according to the mayor of the Toledo municipality, José Julián Gregorio, on his X account. “Tonight is a terrible day for the history of Talavera. Our old or 'Roman' bridge has just partially collapsed. A terrible flood of water for the city. Thank goodness we closed it to public traffic. Today, as mayor, my heart aches for this loss of heritage,” he wrote.
