Two Flexplorer 165 arrive at CdM’s headquarters
Recently, two imposing hulls of the Flexplorer 165 arrived at Cantiere delle Marche’s headquarters for the outfitting stage. This complex operation is captured in the accompanying video, which provides an overview of the two yachts, showcasing their shared design concept and lines while highlighting the distinctive features that set them apart. At present, we identify them with the feature that most strongly characterizes them. Flexplorer 165 (pickleball court) This outstanding explorer yacht stands as a bold testament to innovation and true customization, reflecting our unwavering commitment to turning an Owner’s vision into reality. Every detail of this project showcases CdM’s ingenuity and ability to think beyond conventional boundaries to fulfill even the most distinctive requests. Among the most remarkable features is the inclusion of a full-size standard pickleball court: an unprecedented addition that required substantial structural modifications to the reference platform. To make this possible, we engineered a unique solution by extending the Upper deck overhang. Two dedicated spectator areas enhance the experience: one positioned alongside the court on the Upper deck, and a second elevated ‘sky-view’ vantage point on the Sun deck. The Upper deck is further reinforced and fully equipped to accommodate touch-and-go operations for an EC130 helicopter, adding yet another layer of versatility. In terms of performance, the Flexplorer 165 is powered by twin Caterpillar C32 ACERT engines, each delivering 970 kW at 1800 rpm. This robust propulsion system enables a top speed of 15 knots and a range of 4,800 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 10 knots, ensuring both capability and comfort across extended voyages. This unique project was brought to life through the collaboration of Christian Bakewell of Burgess. The exterior design and naval architecture have been developed by HydroTec, and the sophisticated interior styling by Design Unlimited, resulting in a yacht that redefines what is possible in custom exploration vessels. Flexplorer 165 (fishing equipment) The sale of this Flexplorer 165 was achieved in collaboration with Chris Holtzheuser of Allied Marine. The yacht was commissioned by an experienced north American Owner who recognized the Flexplorer 165 as the ideal choice for their adventurous lifestyle and family-oriented needs. Key Features • Tailored for Fishing Enthusiasts: This yacht is designed for an Owner who has a passion for fishing. This is why she will carry a Grady-White Freedom 285 - 28’ Dual Console tender. To launch and haul this robust motorboat, the A-frame crane capacity has been increased to 4.5 tons. Additionally, two other tenders are included to enhance water-based recreation, underlining the yacht’s adventurous spirit. • Family-friendly & flexible layout: Designed for a large family, the Flexplorer 165 offers a flexible layout. The Sky Lounge can easily be converted into an additional cabin, while another cabin on the port side of the lower deck can be configured either as a private lounge or an extra guest cabin. This adaptability ensures that every journey is comfortable and tailored to the Owner’s needs. • Performances: Powered by twin Caterpillar C32 ACERT engines delivering 970 kW at 1800 rpm, the yacht offers a maximum speed of 15 knots (at 100% Max Output Power) and a range of above 5,000 nautical miles at 10 knots. • Interior Design: The interiors are entrusted to Giorgio M. Cassetta, whose ability to think and design beyond conventional boundaries and trends, combined with his creativity and sensitivity, ensures a perfect blend of personality and functionality. • Exterior design and naval architecture: the yacht’s lines are those Hydro Tec developed for the Flexplorer series. Her naval architecture also by Hydro Tec combines excellent seaworthiness and efficiency.
