Cottonwood Fire crews prepare for heavy rain, flooding, mudslides

With rain in the forecast, Cottonwood Fire crews are taking new precautions to make sure they're staying safe not only from the fire, but also from the floods. Fire officials said they recorded a quarter of an inch of rain and estimate they got half an inch in some areas. People who live downstream from the burn scar saw the effects pretty quickly. "We were able to see lots of water come down the river, and it was all mucky, muddy, a lot of sediment, a lot of ash and debris," said Beaver resident Braden Smith. "I didn't think we really got that much rain, so I was pretty shocked by it."
