Hello, In this video, I'll show you three methods for finding an electrical leak/current leak in a car: For all three methods, the vehicle must be in standby mode, meaning the door is closed (or you can simulate closing the door when checking the interior fuses), and all accessories are switched off (radio, interior lights, etc.). For newer vehicles, you'll need to wait 20 to 60 minutes for the vehicle to go into standby mode. 1) Current Drop Method: Connect a multimeter (set to Amps) in series with the car battery; remove the fuses one by one. If a current drop is observed when removing a fuse, the circuit corresponding to that fuse has a fault. Refer to the Haynes manual to identify the circuit and replace the component responsible for the electrical leak. 2) Voltage Drop Method: For this method, you'll need a multimeter capable of measuring millivolts (mV). Measure the voltage across each fuse in your vehicle; you should get a reading of 0V. If a voltage is detected (for example, 0.005V or 5mV) across a fuse, you have identified the circuit responsible for your electrical leak. The leakage current can be easily calculated using Ohm's Law: U = R x I, therefore I = U/R. Convert the voltage U from mV to V (detected voltage/1000) and find the fuse's resistance online (for example, for a 30A fuse = 0.005 Ohm). You can then calculate your leakage current. 3) This method is identical to the first method described in this video, but using a clamp meter (which must be capable of measuring DC current (A). Place the clamp around the negative or positive battery cable, then remove the fuses one by one and observe if a drop in current occurs.
