Colonel Tran Cam Huong, the only female Colonel in the Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces, died in a thatched hut in Hau Nghia after 10 years of re-education camp imprisonment without medical treatment. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Hanh Nhon, imprisoned for four years, emigrated to the United States penniless at age 63 and spent the last 21 years of her life donating millions of dollars to disabled veterans. Lieutenant Colonel Ho Thi Ve, who trained the entire female military force in 10 years, is left with only a black-and-white photograph from 1965. Three women. Three destinies.
