During the years of independence, Ukraine was an outsider among countries globally in the Corruption Perceptions Index, reaching its peak during Yanukovych's era: Ukraine was ranked 152nd out of 180 countries. We were considered the most corrupt country in Europe. The Kremlin skillfully used this fact, labeling us as a "failed state" and questioning the feasibility and necessity of Ukrainian independence. Corruption made a small group of people billionaires and millionaires while turning the rest of the population into paupers. A crucial turning point in Ukraine's fight against corruption occurred in 2014, driven by an active civil society following the Revolution of Dignity. In this video, we will discuss whether Ukraine truly cannot escape the trap of corruption, whether any changes have occurred, and what awaits Ukrainians in the future - hopelessness or prosperity.
