Exploring Greece's Coastal Castles & Ancient Messene

The Peloponnese is full of hidden gems, and this ended up being one of our favorite days of our Greece road trip. From medieval castles and picturesque coastal towns to one of the best-preserved ancient cities in Greece, this day completely exceeded our expectations. We explore the charming seaside town of Koroni, wander through the incredible Methoni Castle, one of the largest medieval fortresses in Greece, and take in the stunning views from Pylos Castle overlooking historic Navarino Bay. We also visit the famous Voidokilia Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in Greece, before spending the afternoon exploring Ancient Messene, one of the country's most impressive archaeological sites and, in our opinion, one of the most underrated places to visit in Greece.
