Retro Rewind | Zelda NES EP01 - No Map, Just Memory

Welcome to Retro Rewind with Geronimo, where I go back and replay the classic games that shaped my childhood… and find out if my memory is still useful or if nostalgia has been lying to me for 30+ years. We’re kicking things off with The Legend of Zelda on NES — no map, no guide, no walkthrough, and absolutely no guarantee that I remember what I’m doing. In this first episode, I talk a little about growing up without my own Nintendo, spending time at my best friend Jeff’s house, and how Zelda became one of those games that stuck with me for life. I also attempt to prove that I still remember Hyrule by collecting five heart containers, grabbing the White Sword, getting the letter for the old lady, and clearing Level 1. Do I play perfectly? Absolutely not. Do I die? Of course. Do modern controllers make old-school NES gameplay feel weird? Oh yes. Do I still love this game? 100%.
